The internet needed a billboard.
We have always liked the idea of a billboard. There is something wonderfully unnecessary about putting a message somewhere public and knowing that, for a brief moment, people who have absolutely no idea who you are will see it.
Why we made one
The internet makes publishing easy. Being noticed is harder. We wanted a place where a message could exist in public without needing an audience first.
That is how billboard.dev started.
Put something out there
Put something on a billboard for a launch, a tiny obsession, or absolutely no sensible reason at all.
Celebrate a small win. Make a terrible joke. Tell the internet what seemed important enough to deserve its own billboard.
We like all of those reasons equally.
One hour, then the next
Your message gets one hour. Then the next one takes its place. We keep the record, so the moment can still be found later.
Not another advertising platform
We did not build billboard.dev because the internet needed another advertising platform. There are already quite enough of those.
We built it because we thought it would be fun to give people a billboard and see what they decided to do with it.
We are looking forward to all of it
Some will be useful. Some funny. Some heartfelt. Some will make us wonder why anyone paid for that particular message.
